Math Learners will continue to represent numbers in a variety of ways. We will learn how to create a set or break apart a set of objects up to 20.
Language Arts
Spelling/Phonics - We will not have spelling this week due to our MAP testing and our shortened week.
Reading - We will be using our new "Book in a Bags" as we talk about reading stamina. Each "Book in a Bag" has leveled readers that are just right for your child. We will also be taking the beginning of the year MAP assessment to get a baseline of where each child started first grade. Please make sure your child's Ipad is fully charged on their assessment day (see calendar above)
Writing - We will be using our writing journals to understand the mechanics of writing as they write on a topic of their choice.
Social Studies - We will identify characteristics of good citizenship.
Science - We will sort objects by larger and smaller, heavier and lighter, shape, color, and texture.
Announcements:
- Please remember to send your child's Ipad to school every day. Also, please make sure that it is charged every evening. Thank you!!
- The front car-loop areas are for our families that are dropping off and picking up their child(ren). In order to help keep our lines moving, we ask parents not to exit their vehicles in the car-loop lines. If your child requires additional assistance, please park in one of our parking spaces. We also ask that all families use the designated crosswalks when walking across the parking lot. This is for the safety of all our learners. Thank you for your help in keeping our kids safe!
- Please make sure to look at your child's daily behavior calendar. Our goal is for the children to color in the day with the appropriate behavior. Many times, the children forget. If it is not colored, please assume it is a great day. If you see a teacher comment, we would love for you to have a conversation with your child about what happened to receive the comment. Please know many warnings were given before a comment was written. :-)
- Please review and take out all papers from their take-home folder each day.
If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Email is the best way to get a hold of us. If it's a general question, please email your homeroom teacher. If it's a question specific to an academic area, please email the teacher that teaches that subject. We are so excited to partner with you in your child's learning.

DISMISSAL
If you change the way your child goes home at the end of the day, you will need to email your teacher. Children will be sent home their "usual" way unless we hear directly from a parent. Also, please make sure that the teacher has responded to your email to ensure that we got the message. If you don't hear back from your teacher, please call the office to let them know about dismissal changes.
Celebrations & Birthday Treats
We will celebrate your child’s birthday with a spotlight on our daily school-wide announcements and a goody bag from the school that contains several items, including a coupon for a free treat in the cafeteria.
If you choose to send birthday food treats to school, they will need to be in their original packaging that lists ingredients. Please send the treats to our school nurse. She will look over the ingredients and then deliver them to your child's homeroom class. These treats will be sent home with the learners at the end of the day for them to enjoy at home.
