Calendar
February 14th - Valentine's Day Party 2:00 - 3:00
February 17th - No school for learners - CISD staff workday
February 20th - No school for learners
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD'S IPAD IS FULLY CHARGED EACH DAY. WE HAVE A LOT OF IPADS COMING TO SCHOOL THAT ARE NOT CHARGED. SOME ACTIVITIES WE DO REQUIRE AN IPAD AND IT CAN BE DIFFICULT IF YOUR CHILD DOESN'T HAVE A WORKING IPAD TO USE. THANK YOU!
Math -We will review our counting skills this week to prepare for the upcoming money unit. We will count through 120 forwards and backward by 1's and skip count to 120 by 2's, 5's, and 10's.
Count by tens from any number - https://www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=ncgNKmESFLY
- Generate story problems about family members. For example, Mom went to the store and bought some cookies. She ate half a dozen cookies in the car. Now she has 10 cookies. How many cookies did mom have in the beginning? :-)
- Practice counting to 120 by ones from any given number.
- Practice counting to 120 by tens from any given number.
- Practice counting to 120 by fives.
- Practice counting to 120 by twos.
- DREAMBOX - 15 minutes daily. Please do not tell your child the answers. The program is designed to help them at their level.
Spelling/Grammar/Phonics: Next week we will talk about /ir/, /er/, and /ur/. We WILL NOT have a spelling pretest or spelling test on these words since they do not follow a pattern. We will just be looking at these R controlled vowels and identifying them when reading.
Writing: We will continue our unit on non-fiction writing by creating bubble maps to organize our thinking. After we organize our thoughts, we will begin to write in paragraphs and understand what makes up a paragraph.
Reading: We will continue to learn about how to read a non-fiction book by utilizing the table of contents, glossary, and labels. Did you know that reading a non-fiction text does not require you to read the book from beginning to end?
**Don't forget to let your child log on to the Kids A-Z (Raz-Kids) app at home. The "Level Up" part of the app is excellent for listening, reading, and answering comprehension questions. There are lots of great non-fiction books in their Raz-Kids libraries.
Social Studies - We will compare the lives of historical figures who have influenced the state and nation.
Science - We will observe and record changes in the appearance of objects in the sky such as the moon, stars, and sun.
TCE Parents and Families – Yearbook Photos Needed!
Volunteer Background Check Form - REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER
If you anticipate volunteering on campus at all this year, please fill it out. A new one must be completed each school year.
- School begins at 7:40. If your child arrives after 7:40 they will need to go to the office and receive a tardy pass. Please make sure your child arrives in the building before 7:40 each day.
- Please remember to send your child's Ipad to school every day. Also, please make sure that it is charged every evening. Thank you!!
- Please make sure to look at your child's daily behavior calendar. Our goal is for the children to color in the day with the appropriate behavior. Many times, the children forget. If it is not colored, please assume it is a great day. If you see a teacher comment, we would love for you to have a conversation with your child about what happened to receive the comment. Please know many warnings were given before a comment was written. :-)
- Please review and take out all papers from their take-home folder each day.
Email is the best way to get in touch with your child's teacher:
- Mrs. Sork: msork@coppellisd.com (math)
- Mrs. Vincenzo: lvincenzo@coppellisd.com (language arts)
- Mrs. McCullough: jmccullough@coppellisd.com (science and social studies)
Dismissal
If you change the way your child goes home at the end of the day, please email your teacher. Children will be sent home their "usual" way unless we hear directly from a parent. Also, please make sure that the teacher has responded to your email to ensure that we got the message. If you don't hear back from your teacher, please call the office to let them know about dismissal changes.
Celebrations & Birthday Treats
We will celebrate your child’s birthday with a spotlight on our daily school-wide announcements and a goody bag from the school that contains several items, including a coupon for a free treat in the cafeteria.
If you choose to send birthday food treats to school, they will need to be in their original packaging that lists the ingredients. Please send the treats to our school nurse. She will look over the ingredients and then deliver them to your child's homeroom class. These treats will be sent home with the learners at the end of the day for them to enjoy at home.
Who can visit my child for lunch?
Every Friday families are allowed to eat lunch in the cafeteria.
District guidelines limit lunchroom visitors at the elementary level to parents, immediate family members with written permission from a parent, and campus mentors. Immediate family members are defined as the student’s parents/step-parents, siblings, grandparents, or any person residing in the home. A parent can list the person(s) who have permission to have lunch for the entire school year.
If anyone other than the parent(s) listed as guardians in our district eschool system is eating with the child, we will need written documentation of your approval.

Way to go, Divyanshi! 1C LOVED your experiment!!!
Zoey taught 1A how to make dancing noodles. She put water, vinegar ,and noodles in a flask and then she added baking soda
which made it erupt. The bubbles left in the flask made the noodles "dance"!!!!
