Kindergarten and First Grade will be working with the Coppell Lions Club to provide food and toys for more than 100 Coppell families during the holidays. Please bring canned food items and/or a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Coppell Lions Club. We will be collecting canned goods and toys from November 28th to December 13th. You may drop your items by the TCE giving tree in the front of the school. THANK YOU for your donation!!

*Please count with your child daily from any given number. :-) Your child has been working on counting to 120 by fives and tens. Let them show you! :-)

*Have your child pick a two-digit number. Ask them to tell you what is 10 more or 10 less. Have a discussion with your child. Here are some questions you can ask. What is one more and one less? Is it even or odd? How many tens does your number have? Can you tell me the expanded form? What digit is in one place, etc?
* 10 minutes of Dreambox - Dreambox can be challenging. Please do not tell your child the answers. You are more than welcome to guide them and discuss the problem as they work to find an answer. The program is designed to give your child problems based on their level. Many times, children who are given the answers, become upset because the questions become too hard and they are not ready for such a challenging level.
Spelling/Phonics/Grammar - We will not have spelling this week. We will begin our study of the parts of speech as we dive into nouns.
Reading - We will be talking about traditional tales as we enjoy listening to and reading fables. We will compare and contrast fairy tales and fables to see what makes them different and what makes them similar.
**Don't forget to log on to the Kids A-Z (Raz Kids) app. This is a great app that promotes fluency and comprehension!
Writing - We will learn how to express ourselves when writing poetry.
Social Studies - We will describe and explain the importance of beliefs, language and traditions of families and communities.
Science - We will identify and describe a variety of natural sources of water including streams, lakes and oceans.
Volunteer Background Check Form - REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER
If you anticipate volunteering on campus at all this year, please fill it out. A new one must be completed each school year.
- School begins at 7:40. If your child arrives after 7:40 they will need to go to the office and receive a tardy pass. Please make sure your child arrives in the building before 7:40 each day.
- Please remember to send your child's Ipad to school every day. Also, please make sure that it is charged every evening. Thank you!!
- Please make sure to look at your child's daily behavior calendar. Our goal is for the children to color in the day with the appropriate behavior. Many times, the children forget. If it is not colored, please assume it is a great day. If you see a teacher comment, we would love for you to have a conversation with your child about what happened to receive the comment. Please know many warnings were given before a comment was written. :-)
- Please review and take out all papers from their take-home folder each day.

Dismissal
If you change the way your child goes home at the end of the day, please email your teacher. Children will be sent home their "usual" way unless we hear directly from a parent. Also, please make sure that the teacher has responded to your email to ensure that we got the message. If you don't hear back from your teacher, please call the office to let them know about dismissal changes.
Celebrations & Birthday Treats
We will celebrate your child’s birthday with a spotlight on our daily school-wide announcements and a goody bag from the school that contains several items, including a coupon for a free treat in the cafeteria.
If you choose to send birthday food treats to school, they will need to be in their original packaging that lists the ingredients. Please send the treats to our school nurse. She will look over the ingredients and then deliver them to your child's homeroom class. These treats will be sent home with the learners at the end of the day for them to enjoy at home.
Who can visit my child for lunch?
Every Friday families are allowed to eat lunch in the cafeteria.
District guidelines limit lunchroom visitors at the elementary level to parents, immediate family members with written permission from a parent, and campus mentors. Immediate family members are defined as the student’s parents/step-parents, siblings, grandparents, or any person residing in the home. A parent can list the person(s) who have permission to have lunch for the entire school year.
If anyone other than the parent(s) listed as guardians in our district eschool system is eating with the child, we will need written documentation of your approval.

I loved how she taught us that this proved that air does take up space. 1C LOVED this experiment!! Way to go, Maelys!! I am super proud of you!!  The liquids floated in the order they were poured. It was beautiful! 1A loved this!! We loved how you used the flashlight to represent the sun and teaching us that when the sun is shining on the water, those top layers are the lightest and the deeper the water, the darker the colors. You rocked this, Swara!!.   |
